WasteAid - Stop Plastic Pollution
We are OPEN for business during this Covid-19 shut down period. Some service levels may be reduced in some areas but we are working as hard as ever!

As a waste management company, we are reminded of the harm that plastics have on the environment daily. Considering this and to help support a good cause, this week's blog focuses on the wonderful work performed by Waste Aid and in particular a lady called Zoë Lenkiewicz who is currently in Gambia working with a local community to raise awareness of plastic recycling. Here's her story:
"I am in the Gambia leading round 2 of our training in plastics recycling, enabling a coastal community to turn plastic waste into useful products, and to put a stop to open dumping and burning of waste. Our first group processed over a million plastic bags within two months and now have customers queuing up for their high quality products. We arrived for training yesterday to find the neighbours had set fire to the dumpsite next door. The air was thick with acrid smoke - ironic considering we were about to discuss the harm that burning plastic does to your health, and the health of your kids. In the meantime, we are pushing as hard as we can to get donations to our UK Aid Match appeal. We want to train 300 people in the coastal city of Douala in Cameroon to stop plastic pollution of the rivers, estuary and ocean. Please please give us your support. @WasteAid is a tiny charity and we really need help from people who believe in sustainable change. All donations by 31 July will be doubled by UK government, so there's never been a better time to make an impact. Please also help us share the campaign with more people, and join us on the Walk for WasteAid in Manchester on 6 July. All donations will be doubled by UK government!
