So, what have we been up to?
While our bread and butter is predominantly waste management, we often undertake large-scale projects that involve our other specialist services, like this job we completed last year in Worcestershire.
Contaminated Soil
This project involved a major cleanup operation. Grab lorries were arranged and sent to the site to collect the contaminated soil, which included the extraction of affected trees. In total, 1,341 tonnes of soil were removed from the site via 98 separate grab lorry loads. All soil was transported to a local treatment center and recycled. Additionally, new soil was sourced from a local farm and sent to the site to backfill the affected areas. For the full case study, read here.
Our next job takes us to another cleanup operation following a flood.
Damaged Confidential Waste
This job involved flood-damaged confidential waste, which required swift and correct disposal. Following a spate of bad weather in London, two solicitor firms were affected by flooding, destroying archived paperwork. Due to the sensitive nature of the paperwork, it was apparent that a bespoke solution was required to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act. Site Solutions were able to organize a contractor local to the area to visit both sites, assess the work, and provide a team to clear out the basements and dispose of the damaged archives correctly. Sustainability is always a key focus for Site Solutions. As specialists in waste management, we take our responsibility seriously and ensure we recycle where possible. This extends to providing solutions and advice to our customers on each project we undertake.
Wood Recycling Project
Site Solutions has been working together with a leading national builders’ merchant on an ongoing wood recycling project since August 2021. With branches located across the UK, all stock is palletized on delivery, and with large volumes of daily deliveries, the number of obsolete pallets grows, taking up much-needed space.
Our main priorities with this project are to reduce bulk waste and free up valuable space on each site. Site Solutions initially worked with 7 sites across the UK, but this was extended to 70 sites shortly after. We have scheduled collections to branches in London that run weekly, and we operate on an ad hoc basis for the remaining branches.
Site Solutions organized pallet merchants to collect from the site, transport back to their headquarters, and undertake pallet recovery where appropriate, sending them out into the distribution network for reuse. Pallets that are received in disrepair will be turned into wood chippings and recycled. For the full case study, read here.
