Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste is quite simply, a minefield! There are lots of variables and different ways to correctly dispose of waste and to prove this we have a whole section on our website dedicated to specialist waste.

What is hazardous waste?

Hazardous waste is classed as waste that poses a threat to humans, animals, or the environment. Examples are Combustible materials such as petrol and rubber. Reactive substances such as materials containing reactive metals. Corrosive substances such as household bleach. Toxic substances such as medicines, cleaning materials, detergents etc.

What is Non-hazardous waste?

Non-Hazardous waste relates to a type of industry waste which does not pose a threat to humans, animals or the environment, but is still classed as regulated waste that cannot be put into a skip or sent to landfill. Examples are sugars, lactic acid, bromides, or carbonates.

Either type of waste must be dealt with carefully. Logistics surrounding hazardous and non-hazardous waste can be tricky owing to the additional checks required to prevent leaks and contamination. Specialist transport is required with the driver and vehicle adhering to strict regulations. Paperwork must also be provided with a clear description of the type of waste. Waste can then be transported to either a designated waste transfer station or to a treatment site.

Fortunately for our customers, we’re equipped to handle practically any waste type. In addition to taking care of specialist waste like asbestos and contaminated soil, we deal with such difficult waste streams, so you don’t have to.
