Times are changing. The cost of living is increasing, and industries are streamlining more than ever. Keeping in line with this quick pace, the waste industry is tightening up regulations on managing plasterboard and controlled waste.
Due to tighter enforcement and rising costs of the handling of plasterboard, we as a business are now faced with stricter monitoring and controls from our waste management partners. Whilst before, we were able to allow up to a 10 percent allowance of plasterboard in mixed waste the tolerance level is now zero. We are asking all of customers to advise of waste type when booking a skip with Site Solutions in order to avoid any additional charges or issues.
Site Solutions have the knowledge and relevant licences to deal and manage all waste types; hazardous and non-hazardous. Controlled waste must be managed and kept separate from other wastes, the list includes:
- Asbestos or possible asbestos products
- Batteries
- Chemicals, e.g. brake fluid or print toner
- Equipment containing ozone depleting substances, e.g. fridges & freezers
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Hazardous / harmful waste containers (Identified by hazardous markings)
- Liquid wastes e.g. paints, oils and solvents
- Pesticides
- Plasterboard
- Gas canisters
